Diploma in Food Service Worker

Diploma in Food Service Worker at Brampton College is an inclusive program, designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills in order to become a professional Food Service Worker (FSW) and a member of an inter-professional healthcare team.

Mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for all staff employed in the position of FSW in long-term care dietary environments, this particular course covers the practical aspects of quality customer service, safe food-handling techniques, quantity food preparation, meal service, proper sanitation practices, effective communications, food and beverage preparation, basic therapeutic diets, basic principles of nutrition, nutritional and safety procedures. The course includes classroom lectures and concludes with an arranged work experience field placement in a health care facility, providing applicants with hands-on experience. During the program, students learn the roles and responsibilities of the Food Service Worker in a variety of settings and types of food service operations. They will be able to work as a Food Service Worker, Food Service Helper, Dietary Aide and Food Preparer. FSW Course at Brampton College instills in students the knowledge and skills to work in the food industry or food department according to Canadian standard. They will have expertise in Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHIMS, the Sanitation Code and other related legislation.
